Sales Manager Consumer Healthcare and Cosmetics | North America

Reporting to the groninger USA CEO, the Sales Manager (SM) will provide customers with efficient access to groninger’s new machines. Applicants should have demonstrated success in the packaging machinery industry for cosmetics/ consumer healthcare or similar, ideally with fill/finish machines. The SM will be an active listener with a positive problem solving attitude. The successful candidate will understand customers’ business needs and procurement process and will align them with the most suitable groninger solution, building long-term, mutually beneficial relationships. While the SM has no direct reports, she or he will closely cooperate with the Sales support team in Germany and various people within groninger USA to close the order. We are looking for a team player who believes in Sales as a structured process that involves marketing, engineering, service and other functions. The SM should ideally live close to most of our customers, i.e. in the Northeastern US. Otherwise a location close to a major airport is a must. The SM can work 100% remotely.

Your Responsibilities

  • Communicate with all levels of the customer organization, from technicians to C-Level executives
  • Promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs
  • Generate leads through participation in webinars, trade shows and conferences, and online w. marketing
  • Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status
  • Develop opportunities through early involvement and solution consulting, own budgetary estimates, technical presentations (supported by technical experts as needed), proposal presentations and contract negotiations (formal proposals are developed by back office teams)
  • Present realistic sales forecasts to the management team
  • Leverage groninger USA service solutions to increase new machine and service sales alike
  • Pre-pandemic, this role included approximately 50% travel

Minimal Qualifications:

  • BS/MS degree in engineering, business administration or a related field
  • 4+ years of successful experience as a sales representative in machinery for cosmetics, consumer healthcare or similar
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all organization levels
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
  • Strong business sense and industry expertise
  • Pro-active, self-motivated, efficient
  • Excellent coaching and people management skills
  • Outstanding planning and time management skills and attention to detail
  • Committed to continuous education through workshops, seminars and conferences
  • Proven ability to perform strongly in a remote work set-up

Desired Qualifications (advantageous but not a must):

  • German language capability
  • Intercultural experience
